The Guernsey Photography Festival and Raven Property Group Ltd are proud to present a free major photography competition designed to promote the work of students working towards Photography / Art and Design.

Competition categories

International students

Degree, masters degree or equivalent

Channel Island students (year 10 - 11 and year 12 - 13)

GCSE / A-Level, L2 & L3 Vocational Qualifications in A&D and/or a certificate in IB Visual Arts

A prize of £1,000 for International Students and prizes of £250 for each Channel Islands category are being offered to the winning students along with the opportunity to gain valuable exposure by exhibiting at the next Guernsey Photography Festival starting 24th of September 2020.

Entry Details

The award is open to any student who is currently studying one of the above qualifications, who has developed, or is developing a coherent, artistically driven body of work in the field of contemporary photography.

There is no set theme – work can be entered on any subject.

Entrants for local student categories must submit a set of a maximum of 6 images (in a zipped folder), along with a supporting statement of no more than 100 words

Entrants for higher education categories must submit a set of a maximum of 15 images (in a zipped folder), along with a supporting statement of no more than 250 words.

Images must be no larger than 1000 pixels on the longest side, sRGB jpeg format. Label the files with your name and numeration (firstname_lastname_1.jpg).

Submissions received in any other format will not be accepted.

Entries must be received no later than 14 February 2021.

All entries will be reviewed and assessed by the Guernsey Photography Festival jury. The decision of the jury is final.

The best portfolios in each category will have the chance to be exhibited as part of the next festival opening on 24th of September 2020.

All information detailing how to enter this competition forms part of these terms and conditions. It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the competitor agrees to abide by these rules. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.

All images submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images they submit have been taken with the permission of the subject and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws. Entrants must warrant that the photograph they are submitting is their own work and that they own the copyright for it.

Copyright in all images submitted for this competition remains with the respective entrants. However, in consideration of their providing the Competition, each entrant grants The Guernsey Photography Festival the right to display, reproduce and publish in any media, any entry, without payment, for the sole purpose of the Guernsey Photography Festival Award and exhibition – this year and in future – and its promotion and publicity.
